The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim were founded in 1961 and have called Angel Stadium of Anaheim their home since 1966. Originally known as the Los Angeles Angels (from 1961-1965), the California Angels (1965-1996) and the Anaheim Angels (1997-2004) the team was finally re-named in 2005 to reflect its LA roots (ie, to better tap the Los Angeles media market). Thankfully, the team was not named The Los Angeles California Angels of Anaheim of the United States of America. Although, that would have been hilarious.
