Brutul Black and Tan Kit

What is it about a perfectly poured Black and Tan that rocks so much? Is it the taste of smooth stout gently mixing with hoppy lager on your palette? Is it the delicious symmetry of light and dark beer fused together into a visually arresting presentation? Or is it simply just an awesome way to drink beer?

Whatever your reason, it's difficult to get around the fact that it's hard as hell to pour a Black and Tan in your own home without the right tools. But worry not, beer lover! We here at SuperiorSportsBar.com have the solution to this most vexing problem.

Our 6 piece Black and Tan kit, made by Brutul, has everything you need to pour a perfect Black and Tan time and time again.
  • 2 Stainless steel coasters
  • 2 Pint glasses
  • 1 Bar towel, and most importantly
  • 1 Lagerhead Turtle- This is your secret weapon in your effort to perfectly pour Black and Tans all night long.

How To Pour A Perfect Black And Tan

First thing's first- you have to select your beer. You should choose a dark stout for the top layer- you really can't go wrong if you choose something along the lines of Guinness, Beamish or Murphy's Irish Stout. I went with Guinness for my Black and Tan research (I love my job) and was very pleased. The bottom layer, the "Tan" if you will, can pretty much be anything else. For the purposes of this experiment, I used Sam Adams, Harp and Magic Hat #9. Did I mention that I love my job? Anyhow, choosing is the hard part. Then all you have to do is chill the beer, fill a pint glass half-way with the lighter beer. Finally, placing the Lagerhead Turtle over the glass, slowly pour the stout over the turtle's back and the layers will remain separate.
