The Cardinals have been based in Arizona since 1988, ending a long era of playing out of Midwestern cities. They have the dubious distinction of never having made it to a Super Bowl, but that's just because their best season (in 1947) predated Super Sunday. How soon people forget! In 2006 the Cardinals started playing on the turf of the University of Phoenix Stadium, and what a place that is: It has a retractable, natural grass field that can be moved in its entirety to the exterior of the stadium, the better to reach the sun's beneficial rays.
